National Geographic- A Mother's Love @NGStore

Just in time for Mother's Day, my all time favorite publication is putting out a wonderful book entitled- "Mother's Love: Inspiring True Stories from the Animal Kingdom" by Melina Gerosa Bellows and a foreword by actress Kate Hudson.

“Mother’s Love” explores the immeasurable love that mothers have for their children in the wild. Amazing stories and touching photographs of the animals fill the pages, including the remarkable tale of a mother elephant that went above and beyond to save her baby from a flash flood. As the flood tore the two apart, the mother managed to lift the baby over her head with her trunk and stand on her hind legs to bring her calf to safety. She was swept away, but soon after, camp managers heard a trumpeting noise — the mother elephant calling to her baby as she fought through the water to be reunited with her little one.  The book also features inspirational quotes on the powerful love of mothers from mothers, sons and daughters from Thomas Edison to Agatha Christie.

I know that any animal-lover, traveler, or lover of inspirational stories would love to receive this book for Mother's Day.   Mother's bond with her child is not unique to humans- it transcends race, religion, creed, and even species- a mother's love trumps all.  This unique and beautiful book is a lovely reminder of the lengths a mother will go to for her offspring, and how deep a mother's love truly is.
